Dims’ first sofa designed by Takagi Homstvedt. Inspired by the sleek curves of Italian cars in the 60s, the Alfa sofa is characterized by its rounded silhouette. The cushions are noticeably plush yet tidy, giving the sofa its structured look. Another distinguishing feature is the long legs that disappear into the sofa’s upswept backside, balancing the design’s substantial size with an element of lightness.
The Alfa is offered in a 3-seater and a 2-seater option in six sustainably-produced Kvadrat textile colorways: Primer Green, Mélange Blue, Shell Pink, Toasted Ecru, Ikat Red and Off-White. The legs are available in Ash Wood and Black Powder-Coated Steel.
The thing I like about Alfa is that it has this visual lightness. For instance, we have quite a big seat but it’s still visually light because it looks like there’s nothing holding it up — the structure is all internal. I think we ended up with something that’s quite unique in a world where so much looks the same. People want objects to look recognizable — yet they rarely want to go too far out on a limb. There’s a fine line and I think we found a nice balance here.
